About me
CJ Davis, a Mexican American painter based in Northern Virginia, is an artist, author and advocate. A George Mason University alumna, her TEDx talks, "Art Looks Better in Color" and "Hurting Hearts to Hear and Heal", address diversity and mental health in the BIPOC community. CJ's advocacy extends through workshops on intersectionality and curated exhibitions like "Establishing Roots and Resisting Illegality". Her book, 'Resurrection: Returning to Roots from Trauma', shares her journey of healing from domestic violence through art. Committed to social change, she collaborates with grassroots organizations and nonprofits, amplifying voices of the marginalized, such as advancing higher education opportunities for undocumented people and immigrants, and working on fighting the domestic violence epidemic through transformative justice and preventative education. She is very inspired by how intersectionality affects perspectives, and how important it is to empower others who are struggling with very real issues that are invisible to the human eye.
